Dr. Litt’s Education and Experience
Dr. Litt has been a licensed orthodontist for 35 years. He was the chairman of two University orthodontic departments for 20 years. Dr. Litt has taught orthodontics to thousands of other dentists and continues to conduct seminars throughout the world.
Optimal Treatment Timing
Treatment is started when your child is truly ready. Some children require early treatment, including several different phases of therapy. Others are best treated by waiting until all the permanent teeth are erupted. At the initial examination visit, if your child is not yet ready for treatment, they will be placed into our recall program until the ideal treatment time occurs.
Caring and Qualified Staff
Our staff is comprised mainly of highly trained dental hygienists who have taken extensive orthodontic continuing education and have years of clinical experience.
Established Quality Practice/Extensive Clinical Experience
Dr. Litt has clinically treated and supervised the treatment of over 30,000 orthodontic patients in his career. He presently is actively treating nearly 1,000 patients each year in his two local practices.
Patient Education/Communication
Dr. Litt and his staff believe that the more the patient/parent understands about their orthodontic treatment, the more successful and satisfying the experience will be. Our patients especially appreciate Dr. Litt and our practice coordinator, Suzanne Johnson, for being the experienced teachers they are.
Modern Materials and Appliances
We use the latest high-tech materials, resilient wires, and latest techniques, thereby increasing patient comfort and decreasing overall treatment time with fewer visits.
Newest Sterilization Methods
For your safety, no recycled appliances are used.
Appropriate Treatment Protocols and Appliances are Used
Some orthodontists claim "only non-extraction treatment." Dr. Litt will treat patients without dental extractions, if at all possible. Non-extraction treatment is simpler, less expensive, shorter in duration, and easier for the patient. However, history and experience has shown us that throughout the world, for nearly 100 years, approximately 25%-30% of all orthodontic patients will require extraction of some permanent teeth to achieve the best result.
Some orthodontists claim "no headgear or retainers." Dr. Litt will use headgear in those clinical situations where it has proven to be the best treatment. There are other alternative appliance options which may, in some cases, be equally effective or, in fact, more effective than headgear. Where options exist, our patients and parents are included in the decision making process. Retainers are an insurance policy. Every orthodontically treated patient will require some form of retention appliance and/or stabilization procedure. The appliance/procedure is individually selected for each patient’s needs.
